Digestive Absorption Testing in Chicago with a Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis

Digestive absorption involves the passage of digested food into the blood, lymphatic vessels, and tissue cells.

In a three-month period, two out of every three people have had some sort of digestive problem. It is the second leading reason next to the common cold that people seek medical advice. What's more, along with problems of digestive absorption, our gastrointestinal tract may be riddled with harmful disease-causing bacteria, as certain elements of our modern lifestyle (like frequent worldwide travel, for example) make us more vulnerable to such infections than ever before in history.

WHY TEST MY DIGESTIVE ABSORPTION?

By testing your digestive absorption, we can learn how your body digests the food that you eat, how your body rids itself of the waste left behind, and most importantly how all of that affects the normal functioning of your various bodily systems.

A digestive absorption test can provide us with insight into any of the following symptoms and conditions:

thyroid function (i.e. heavy weight gain)
adrenal function (i.e. fatigue)
mood swings and depression
abdominal pain, indigestion, or chronic diarrhea
infertility and low-libido
melatonin production
menopause, peri-menopause, and andro-pause
and many others

THE DIGESTIVE ABSORPTION TEST

For our digestive absorption testing, we use a Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA) from a fully accredited medical lab.

The CDSA starts out by examining 3 different areas:

Digestion - checking for the presence of no less than a dozen common potential pathogens;
Absorption - checking levels of long- and short- chain fatty acids, cholesterol, common imbalanced flora, and fecal fat;
the Colonic Environment - checking the amounts of beneficial and other bacteria in one's colon.

Beyond that, the CDSA can also be used to evaluate the following:

metabolism
immune status (and yeast levels) for patients with irritable bowel syndrome
indigestion, malabsorption, and other GI-related problems

There's even a parasitology component that the doctor may order which uses EIA testing and microscopic evaluation to detect parasites in the gastrointestinal system, along with yeast, beneficial flora, imbalanced flora, pathogenic bacteria. The CDSA analyzes no less than 18 different factors affecting your gastrointestinal and greater overall health.

Your stool sample is collected and shipped to the lab in the privacy of your own home. Once your stool sample has been received, it will be analyzed carefully by trained and knowledgeable technicians backed by an assortment of powerful diagnostic technologies, including brand new staining procedures, advanced immunoassay techniques, and computer-enhanced video microscopy. Then, within just 7 to 21 days after submitting your stool sample for testing, our office will receive the results. We will review the results with you and carefully explain any results that fall outside of normal reference ranges (too low or too high), and their implications. And if further action is indicated, these test results will help us better able to develop a program that will work for you.
